Dubai unveils plan to go paperless by 2021

Identifying Problems and Opportunities

The main issue in today’s fast era is the   scarcity of time in people’s lives. They do not have time to spare. Considering this as a major problem the Dubai Government has got an opportunity to make the lives better for the people of Dubai. The life of person is already stressed with loads of works to do.  The basic requirements like getting health checks, paying taxes, reviewing household energy consumption, registering your kids in school, health checkups for kids etc. all require physical visits to the offices every month to the customer service centers (Neely, 2017).

Define Goals

The goals of the Dubai Pulse are to create an online platform that acts as a backbone for Dubai’s transformation as well as make a shift towards smart technologies. The goal is to build a real smart city that uses technology as the key for a balanced and a happier life. The main aim of Dubai Pulse is to create a 100 percent digital future in the time span of four years thus making Dubai Paperless. The goal is to enable internet users to conduct their transaction with government and private sector online with the mouse click of through smartphone (Baldwin, 2017).

 Exploring Possible Strategies

The possible strategies can be toe making all the services online. It will be collating all the data  collected  through Internet of Things ( IoT), a popular term which  is used for described  by a digital  network of sensors  that will be installed on roads,  buildings,  municipal offices  or in the digital devices  for example  smartphones  as well as make it online for the visitors. The strategy is to use technology as the main elements for creating a balanced as well as happy life for its citizens (Neely, 2017).

Anticipate Outcomes and Act

Dubai Pulse will be an interactive data board that will help the entire Dubai city, accessible to the public, all the decision makers as well as the business sector. It will publish  up-to-date  information and  data  regarding various metrics  that  will be  related to  the entire city  including  transport,  social welfare, education, traffic,  the economy and health care along with to innovative  tourism as well as entertainment services for example  aviation services , smart  restaurants and traffic systems.  All through the city smart sensors will be distributed so that seamless services can be provided thus allowing all the residents to connect with the city (Baldwin, 2017).

Look Back and Learn

There has not been as such any initiative in the past in Dubai and the Smart Dubai Initiative has been working well in the past for the city and has been successful, so it will be an addition to it. Smart initiatives have there been in the past as well as in Dubai but will this step  it is expected that  there will be 80 million fewer car trips  on the road and the credit will go to  Dubai Pulse the  proposed online portal (Baldwin, 2017).
