Well, before you run around and put a social media update, let's see how you can identify a fake job offer so you can decide better.
Too good to be true: you job offer mentions you will earn 10-12 lpa where you expect 3-4 lpa, if you receive these kind of emails or calls make sure you block their number and delete those mail
Vague Job Description: Frauds try to make their fake job offers seems legit by listing job requirements. Usually, these are just as weird as the large salary mentioned above: “must be 18 or over, must have access to the internet, no experience necessary, must have a valid passport”.
You’ll often see that job skills aren’t included in the list. You should ignore the email or ask for a full job description to determine their authenticity.Unprofessional Emails: Some emails from frauds are professionally written but most often than not you will notice that they are poorly written with many mistakes.
If you receive a job offer letter with grammar errors, missing commas and bad English it can indicate that the offer isn’t real.
Do not open any attachment if included with email it might be a virus that will infect your computer.
Also these emails will be sent from non-official email id’s and will often be sent from @gmail.com or @hotmail.comInterview: You’ve received a fantastic job offer and have been asked to attend an interview on Whatsapp Call. What company in their right mind would interview a candidate by online chatting? frauds often want to take the information to steal your identity. Most authentic companies interview face to face or skype interview if you are working remotely
No Contact Information: Another sign of concern is when you have received a mail with no contact information, including a telephone number or company address. The company logo will also look manipulated/hazy or of lower quality. Keep in mind that any official job offer will be written on a company letterhead page which includes their logo and contact information and address
No concrete Search Results: Before agreeing to an interview, do some research. If it’s a genuine company you will find information on their official website and should also notify how long the company has been functional. Some frauds go to the extent of creating their own websites, but the more research you do the more it doesn’t add up. You can also use google to check on their company email, contact number and address or even any review might help you. If a company has only been registered recently maybe less than a year you should be very cautious.
You’re Asked to Provide Confidential Information: Many frauds will ask for your bank account information to set up a direct debit for your salary or will ask you to fill out a form for a report which will then give them the details to your aadhar number and birth date.
Anything Involving Transfer of Money: Sometimes frauds will try to get you to do illegal activities by sending illegal packages to you. They might send you a check and ask you to deposit it into your account, for you to keep some and then send the rest as cash to someone. However it will be exciting to get free money, never accept any job involving the transfer of money from your account to another.
You’re Asked to Pay for Something: After receiving an irresistible job offer, you are asked to pay a security deposit before you join the company
Job Offers You Did not Apply For: Obviously if you receive mail or call from a company where you have not even applied is a sign of a scam. Why would a company randomly select you and send you a job offer without any other form of communication with you? If you are applying for multiple jobs, keep a record of the ones you have applied for to ensure you can filter through this kind of spam.
When you are looking for your dream job it is easy to fall prey to a job scam where you lose money, trust and feel frustrated and discouraged
